Female is starting to swim around more instead of hiding.. She acts too much like a BP for my tastes.. He's tail slapping her and trying to get her to cooperate but she isn't gonna lay anytime soon lol. Fixed the lighting in the pics so the RQ doesn't reflect so much light..

You could try something I saw another member do. Knock the bottom out of a clay pot to where she could fit into it and he can't. Might help her feel more secure.

Rose Queen is a Midas x Vieja or Midas x Parrot mix where the fry comes out with Vieja traits such white eyes, fan tail, Vieja mouth but still retains the Midas body structure.

Female is still shy. I've been fattening her up the past few days.. Doubt she's ready but I just put a pot in. Male has his breeding dress on. The female is getting pretty aggressive to the male. Biting him and trying to lip lock, which is a good sign I guess lol.

Thanks Steve. Hopefully my male is fertile... Otherwise the project ends lol.


I'll keep everyone updated if any eggs are laid.


*Update. Male's fins are all ripped up from the female. She's really aggressive when she's starting to get in the mood..

Keep trying the male...I just tested another one and I am 3 for three on getting a proven male out of the ones I have tested...so odds are good..seems like the unfaded males from the thai GT father carry strong texas fertility gene.

I will. The male definitely wants to breed but the female's not complying. Hearing that you're 3 for 3 males tested makes me feel a little better lol. Hopefully this guy is fertile. Fingers crossed.
