they're a hybrid yes. i think a red terror x texas cross but i could be totally wrong. high grade srt's are the only hybrids i like.

red texas can be red devil x texas or texas x king kong or red parrot
red terror x texas do not make red texas

good to know. like i said i don't like hybrids so i don't really know, just a guess.

yes red texas is a hybrid and to get a srt they have to cross breed back and forth a few time to come out srt, that's why srt cost a lot because all the work they put in. Parrot, red terror were in it.

this is how u make SRT u first breed a king kong or red parrot with a texas then rebreed the fry to the father then rebreed those fry wif the mother then you got srt well thats what i heard anyway never tried it plus i dont think there is any red terror in rt

Correct. This is for the most part line breeding. This is what makes and takes soo long for flowerhorn. You see the amazing king kamfas and beautiful kamalaus. After generations, yes generations of cross breeding different species a "flowerhorn" is made. After that the fish are bred together and then the fry from each pair are hand selected for the ultimate best. When the best fish is selected it is re-bred with one of the parents to bring out a certain trait, whether it be pearls, fins, head, color, flowerline, etc. After that fish has been line bred to the point when that trait becomes a dominant gene the process is started again with the next. That is why when you look at some of the very early original ZZ flowerhorn they are big and ugly and the only real traits they have are color and a big head. Later down the line they were bred for other traits like flowerline and then pearls. Taking FH and breeding them with other species that are part of the creation of FH will greatly icrease the specific dominant genes of that type of fish. Ie. Breeding a ZZ with a bp or synspilum creates a Kamfa. Kamfas are FH with a high amount of syspilum genes and that is why they look so different. The same thing applies to SRT only it is much much easier. For an SRT there are really only 2 or 3 traits that people go after. Red and Pearls and sometimes head size. For the most part you take a Green Texas (Carpints) and a blood parrot or KKP. These fish work best because the Carpintis has much larger more solid pearls and the BP has extreme orange color and also has synspilum in it which carries a kind of irredesant pearling. When you breed these two for the first time your batch of fry will be pretty lame. Usually some may have a hint of orange or they might only have pearls on half of their body. This is where the artificial selection comes into play. You then choose the best looking, either most orange or most pearly and rebreed with the parent who carries that specific trait. If you want more orange breed the nicest male with the mother if you want more pearls breed the pearliest female with the father. Then take the nicest of the next generation of fry and keep doing this until you have a SRT. For the most part many people often guess or claim they have secrets like breeding red terrors and red severums with other pearly fish, this could very well be possible as when it comes to hybrids they are all very different. As far as your traditional SRT it is almost always Carpintis x BP. This does not mean that you can't get SRT from breeding Cyano Tex with Red devils or Using Red terrors or other fish. This is just the most common choice. Anything can be made with enough time and selection.
Hope that clears it up for some people. LOL lots of typing.
