Its not a super red texas, which are the bright beautiful red ones. Its a red texas, a low grade attempt at a srt.

good call. i guess i was not giving much of a middle ground to my opinion and forgot about the whole "SRT" thing

this fish is gorgeous...

It looks like many red texas. People often hear the name and think SRT. Most regular red texas wil never fade. Even if they do, they will never resemble the SRT. Still a very attractive fish IMHO.

looks like a texas mixed with a trimac or a flowerhorn. he will never be a 500 dollar fish but I bet she has personality in his genes. Looks different from what I seen labeled as red texas. The ones I have seen have the texas markings and body shape but are red in color.

What is the temperament like? There is one in a LFS that is similar to the one in your pics, and I was thinking about picking it up, but don't have a tank to dedicate to it. I would want to put it in my 180 CA community tank. Current residents are a. siquia, cutteri, HRP's, a synspilum, a chocolate, and a severum.

yeah doesnt look like it will turn into those crazy expensive ones yous see on aquabid but personally i actually prefer the way your fish looks, still looks like a total hybrid but has a more natural look to with all the colors mixed in :)

the temperment is ok but it holds its own with my loisellei and my red terror wich both are a little bigger.

:ROFL::ROFL: so in other words they are mean little SOBs lol

whatever it is, it looks a lot like one I picked up earlier this year. at first I figured it was just a juvie Texas or Carpinte (or mix), but as it developed I thought maybe it was some low-rent version of a Red Texas . . . I also think it's a female, whereas I thought yours might be a Male

either way, I think they look a lot alike

Im pretty sure it is a first generation RT, or Parrot x carpinte. It's a nice fish. I like the purple color of it. I think it will stay that way and not fade. Still a very nice looking cichlid imo. It doesnt have to be a red texas. It can be itself.

Well Buddy Im sure its part Texas as I am looking at mine as i type but some of the markings are not texas but its no True way to tell for sure Sorry :(
