Yup that's the one. He's an absolute jerk. I luv it. He actually drew a crowd in the store when I was purchasing him. I thought all red males were infertile tho?

Thanks for the info. I assumed it was more of a red devil mix. It's nice to know exactly what I have direct from the breeder. That's awesome!

P.S. that's a pretty nice strain your cooking up there.

Quick question for all of you, as I am new to the red texas breeds. I know that there could be multiple parent combinations to make red texas, but what is the most common mix that makes up the red texas? I recently purchased 10 one inch "red texas" (or whatever they actually are) for $3 dollars a piece. The mom was a texas and the dad was a red devil (kinda creamsicle colored).
Here is what they look like.

BTW to the O.P. that R.T. is absolutely beautiful!!! fertile or not, simply stunning.

There really is no one common way to create a red texas. Red devil x texas is actually one of the popular crosses along with texas x midas or texas x bp or kkp. You will even find some texas x flowerhorn crosses. The thing is it may take a few crossbreedings before you get consistent red peels. Each spawning is different. Also keep in mind that 95 percent of any red males that are produced are infertile. The ones that you have in the pic from what i can tell look pretty good and at that price even if you only get one good specimen it was well worth the money, but in my experience if they are of decent quality they should start to fade to red fairly early. If they do not start to fade very soon chances are they may be "low quality" red texas or not actually "red" texas at all. Were did you purchase your fry? How long have you had them? Do you know for a fact that they are texas x RD?
