they make fish that will end up unwanted.
100% truth. You are further diluting the genetics and creating more random fry that wont look good. The hybridization is only the first step in making a nice hybrid cichlid, all the fh you see commercially were line bred to look like something.
Still puzzling to me to see threads like "what is it called when I cross this x that?" You can name a breed or strain when it starts to breed true. A simple hybrid can be called nothing more than a cross.
Remember, advice should be appreciated and considered. I don't think animal guy was trying to make anybodies world come crashing down around them.

If he a male cross back with female gt or rt ,no parrot ,u can get pretty fish out this project
Both these rt hybrid n nothing ugly about them

^Above is posted a perfectly good example. Neither fish pictured are an improvement to the parent fish. Weird body shapes and not a sign of color inheritance from the srm mother (I know you got a better red one though Rob) so whats the point? You can get something nice from a cross like this but it's a very small number maybe 1 out of 300. Plus you are growing out the entire spawn til 1" or so to actually find that 1 good one, so what to do with the rest... nobody is gonna want them so you will have to humanely euthanize them.

Don't perpetuate the fantasy land reasoning. It takes alot of work and many years to breed hybrids correctly. If a guy in Thailand creates a strain of line bred hybrids and names them, you cannot call your first generation hybrid or hybrid that kind of looks like his hybrid by his hybrid's name. A red dragon fh that has a few more pearls than the others is not a kgm or kml those were actually strains that bred true (as true as a strain with hybridization in it can anyways).
