ok, my RTM and female beani are about to get it on... there's a lotta shaking, fin slapping across the divider... omg omg omg what am i gonna do!?!?! :nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly:

not keep any fry should it even get that far that's what... :headbang2

for the future of beani! at least now i know i definitely have a girl... :naughty:

Are you being serious? How old are you?

It's a dominance or aggression thing. Not a breeding thing. Cichlids of different species, sizes, and sexes do it all the time, they're not trying to breed.

It pushes water against the other fish's lateral line and is a non-fatal way of establishing dominance.

err... how old am i? i'm 28... i was deliberately being stupid in my first post. trust me i've kept fish for over 15 years... i know what i'm seeing ;)

If they breed in the next month I'll give you my savings account. Seriously.

It's got $15 dollars in it right now. :(

i'm not going to keep anything that hatches
i MAY let the eggs hatch just to confirm that i have good water parameters... but trust me, i've waited too long to get beani to let super mota and his mojo get in the way of that... :D
haha...

what is the use in being an *******, it is FAR from impossible for the 2 to breed, and males and females do this as part of the pairing process, which brings me to the question how old are you? how long have you kept fish? you should know that this can also be a sign of breeding behavior as well as dominance.

im not saying that it could not be dominance, but im saying the pairing/spawning part IS 100% a possibility.
