I agree, looks female to me too:)

That is two votes for females.
She is going to be a handful that is for sure. Very aggressive, and at this size she does not back down from fish twice her size. I was gonna get females, but looks like i will have to look for males next time I visit Whitey1121 (the board member from who I got these).

Wow this guy looks great at this size already. I've never seen a mota in person, only dovii. Do they have anywhere near the same type of teeth as a dovii or jaguar? I can never tell from pictures, they always seem to be side shots when I see them. I love the colors on RTMs though, these might be the way I go next. Definitely doing a pair of parachromis…

Teeth should not be too different. The father that I saw was not too responsive, as Doviis are at that size. Teeth should be similar given they are parachromis as well. But unless it grows more, I can not tell for sure. The parents of this fish are great, I should ask the owner to allow me to take a few shots of them. That should motivate you to go get some, they are pretty beautiful.

How big is the fish?

I would estimate the fish to be 3.5", but I am bad with estimations :) Are yours Rio Copan too?

Unfortunately, I do not know the strain of mine.

It was the first time I ever saw them offered at LFS, and I had some tank space and jumped on them. They were just listed as RTM. I always thought they looked awesome and have had jags off and on for 20 years so I knew I liked Parachromis. I am starting to see some color, but can't wait until they get the full coloration. For a while I started worrying that they were the gold morph of the motas.

Whitey lol that's funny. He got his pair from me:) I got the original group from Rapps just incase you wanted to know the history:)

I see. Rio Blanco are little easier to get than Rio Copan, from what I understand. But both strains are quite beautiful from the pictures I have seen on this board.
