Red tiger Mota?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yes, but here are two things- One is that I already have both of those fish, and the severum needs a bigger tank. I think I could set up the steiney his own 20 gallon though, so that would help. I think I'm going to try to get a smaller mota (maybe 4" or so) and if it doesnt work I will make adjustments.

Ugh, now more people are telling me it would be fine: Im torn.

I think I may try it with the mota and GT, and I might give the geo a tank of his own, and if the mota is too aggro i could always just return her. I will try to get a pretty passive Mota, as most people have said It depend on the fish's personality.

No,No,No go with the Texas and Mota,I have had 2 Motas through the years and yes they may not be as aggressive as some of thier cousins they still come no where close to being passive.A GT and a Mota would be warring all the time!!And you would have to torn up and beaten down fish.:WHOA:

Where do people get all of these aggresive Green Terrors at? lol. I have never personally seen a Green Terror that terrorizes tank mates???

Well the tex I want might not be available, and if I cant get this one I dont really want one that bad, I just feel bad for this guy because he lost an eye.

Do you want 1???I have a 5 inch GT,had to take him out of my 100 cause he wouldnt stop harrassing all the other fish,he now lives in a 40 breeder tank by hisself.:irked:

No, I don't have any tank space for one. It is just all the community set ups I have seen around St.Louis with the Green Terrors in them. They have all been picked on and owned.

RED tiget mota will kill everything. Mine did. I had a Pair and I put them by them selfs. Male killed the female. They did lay like 3times no fry. Male was a BEAST.

I will admit that the only guapote I've ever kept has been a jag and that was several years ago. I have read a few articles and many posts by others who've kept most or all of the guapotes and from what I can remember reading most people have said the motaguense is the most aggressive of the guapotes even rivalling the aggression of a dovii. even if you get a fairly passive one it will still be very territorial. that's the trick to keeping guapotes is that they must have a very large territory. in large tanks most jags will be fairly peaceful but the tank has to be very large.

I don't think a 90 or 110 gallon would provide enough space for a mota to share territory with any other cichlids of equal size. I'd leave the mota out but that's just me. :)
