red tiger motaguense or EBJd

you would need at least a 120gal for tank mates with a male rtm and thats pushing it ... u might get away with a 75gal, or 90gal with a female rtm and maybe one tank mate and some dithers.....it all depends on the fish's temperment....

You have a few breeders of EBJD's right there in Florida. Check aquabid.com You could get a group and grow them out. If you have a couple expected losses as you probably will then keep what you want and re home the rest. Add dithers IE: danios or barbs as target fish. 55 gallon limits your stock but a pair of EBJD's would do ok with a well maintained tank. If you don't want to deal with the losses of the blues then go a different direction. I've done my time with EBJD's. I have a male who is 3 years old but will not buy another one.

I'd honestly suggest an entirely different direction with a 55 gallon. EBJD's are a pain, sure they're beautiful if you get a nice quality one and can get them grown out. Given the footprint of a 55, I'd try to stick with something that maxes out around 4-6"s, unless you plan to upgrade your tank size. RTM and Texas are definitely out of the question in that tank.

Definately check out Tampa fish man for quality blues. I think he may have some about ready. If buying ebjd from a pet store be very selective. Look for any deformities, shyness, and strong appetite. I would go with 4 juvie ebjd, let them grow and keep the two that get along.
