I don't think it's either of the names suggested but I do have one just like it. With all the hybrids out there though you never know quite for sure if it's just a mixed cichlid from your LFS.

That's an invalid name for M. emmiltos.
I don't know why you would call anything a "true redtop". It's semantics, doesn't make a difference. It would be like arguing that a blue morph L. caeruleus was any "truer" than the popular yellow morph.
 
With the Lab. caeruleus the "blue morph" is the truer fish, apparently. Will try to find the article I read regarding this. The yellow's are a rather expensive fish to acquire from the Lake compared to other fish. Will pay upwards of $30 for a yellow compared to $12 for other mbuna, wild caughts.
