Red white bumps on rescue fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
New pic, I've had a close look at her; and can't see anything to suggest anchorworm.

She has black patches from stress probably due to tank move and salt in the tank, but can anyone confirm?

If it's wise, I'll net her and take pictures; just don't fancy stressing her needlessly

I see it hanging off the dorsal fin. That looks like anchor worm. The red is dye. The black patches are part of the natural peeling process.

Very keen eyed, I have no experience with anchor worm; but I'm glad to actually have a solid foundation to tackle this now.

Currently the temp is at 24°, salinity basically two tablespoons salt per gallon; the BP is looking a bit better, but would appreciate recommendations on medicating this? As I'm assuming salt won't kill it.

Thanks

Mardel makes a med called called CLOUT which works great fro these things but my keen eye also noticed you have SDs in the tank so CLOUT is out.

This is from: The Merck Veterinary Manual
COPEPODS
Parasiticides). Some success has been achieved in freshwater fish by giving infected fish a 3% (30 ppt = 30 g/L) salt dip (<10 min, remove fish when it rolls) followed by 5 ppt (5 g/L) salt added to the affected tank for 3 wk. The increased salinity kills immature forms as they hatch.
As an option, you could treat the fish in a bath using CLOUT and treat the tank with the salt concentration out lined above.
