Red wiggler question..fire eel

I've never fed these worms to any of my fish before. I recently got a 2 foot fire eel and I tried feeding him these worms but he didnt eat them. They went into my substrate like a worm would do. Do they eventually come out or will they just die in there and foul up the water? I know they can live in there for a certain amount of time.

My experience feeding red wigglers were the same unfortunately the worms would not come back out of the substrate.

I'm pretty sure this fire eel has been in captivity for a while. I've had him for 3 days but he wont seem to eat anything I've offered yet.

Give more time probably still adjusting and keep offering food. Did the LFS feed it Red Wigglers?

He said he thought they fed it black worms. It was in a tank with a bunch of other eels of different kinds. I've heard to be careful with black worms though

Yeah thanks. I did see that thread. I'm sure he will eat eventually. I'd really like him to eat tilapia but I've heard of these eels dieing before they will eat sometimes

Hopefully the Fire Eel starts to eat before starved .

It took me a while to get mine to eat. Only bLack worms for a really long time. Eventually when he doubled in size he started taking tilapia and other foods. But it took about 6 months.

Question? Sorry I don’t know how to start a new thread. I have a 14 inch fire eel and he managed to scratch his back up pretty good right above his tail. What is the best way to treat this?
