I need all the info I can get on the red/rainbow wolf fish. Tank size, TL, will they coexist with other wolf fish, has anyone breed them? Thanks for any help in advance!

Can grow to 10 inches, but 8 inches is more likely, 55-Gallon Minimum tank size. Eat live fish, earthworms, flakes, pellets, mealworms, almost everything. Very aggressive fish, I wouldn't put it with another species of Wolf, unless given a much larger tank than 55. I have mine in a 60-Gallon with multiple species of fish.

Cool. I was looking for something "oddball" to stock my 240 (60 x 36 x 25) with after it cycles. So 5 in a 240 would be ok untill I get a pair?

for a tank that big you could try Hoperythrinus unitaeniatus (Gold wolf fish). Very active and generally accepting of other species as long as they are not small enough to eat.

Tank size probably at least a 75 gal. I have red wolf in a 55 but that was before i really knew anything about wolf fish. A friend of mine who owns a fish store says though mine has reached optimum size a 75 is wider and will give him more room. Though it should be noted mine is rather active and does sit on the bottom.

From experience and people who've said told ya so, red wolf fish can not coexist together. I was successful for six months, but luck ran out and the new wolf fish didn't make it. As for other fish I guess same size wouldn't hurt especially if they grew up together. My red wolf fish(Hercules) lived with a tire track eel for 7 years before whatever reasons Hercules chased him out of the tank.

If you go to www.aqualandpetsplus.com and look under oddballs and go to the wolf fish section towards the very end of the page they show someone who was successful at breeding wolf fish. Also the page provides good information as well.

I disagree though. The size of the tank makes a huge difference. In a 55g, no I wouldn't try more then 1, but he mentioned a 240g, 5 should easily get along in there as long as it is set up to give each red wolf it's own territory.
