Red Wolf Info

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have one in a 55g with a number of other grow outs. He is fine with most, but when anything comes near his hiding spot, he can get agressive. He has called a retic ray and a marble pim catfish though, so im actually selling mine soon. Its a great fish, I will miss him, but with the limited room I have, he doesnt work well in an overstocked tank.

what type of wolf fish is that? Never seen a blue one, very nice

You'd be more than lucky to get away with a group of rainbow/red wolfs it can be done but i've heard people compare it to winning the lottery i use to think it was easy till i talked to a LFS owner

He said he got a shipment of 12 all crammed in the same box each one in its own tiny bag he didn't think any thing of it other than bad shipping He place them all in the same tank and let them out near closeing time he said they seemed fine till the next day when he opened up shop ALL were torn up 7 were dead he placed them all in seperate tank right away and said he'd never make the same mistake again they HATE each other with a passion he said

Its worth a try but keep an eye on them, once you let them out wait at least 30 mins for them to get use to there suroundings and start to explore thats when trouble will come up be ready with a few tank dividers or multiple tanks to move them to if trouble comes up

If you wan't a group and have a large tank go with Gold wolfs those for what ever reason seem to tolorate each other and even shoal together

Mine is very aggressive and dosen't tolorate any tank mates no matter what it is i wouldn't think of putting him with another fish that will fight back its just asking for trouble

Also on one last note there hasn't been any reports of sucessful captive breeding to my knowledge but i could be wrong
