Red wolf tankmates?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've tried kept my Erythrinus erythrinus with a spiny eel and bichir. Peacock spiny eel and senegal bichir to be more precise. All seemed fine for a while but the red wolf decided to kill them off one by one at night in the duration of 2 consecutive days out of nowhere. This was in a 75G. Yours could be fine, I've definitely read about cases where they can co-hab with other fish.. I really think it depends on your fish's "personality".

I would maybe try a bichir and see what happens, but don't be surprised if your bichir is looking traumatized one morning with scrape marks all over his/her body moments away from death.

I don't think top swimmers would be good, mine snaps at the water surface if there's any movement.

I have mine with a small masheer but that wouldn't work long term. The only other tankmate that has survived is a raphael cat.

It has eated an iradescent shark that was two times bigger as well as a bristlenose pleco.
