The thing about Avaarichthys heckelli, is they need a very large tank if trying to keep more than one of the species.
I was warned they need a larger than 220 gal tank for a group, or they kill each other when maturity sets in.
I disregarded that advice (from an Acarichthys breeder) and at about 8 to 10 inches they started intimidating each other into death (nothing overt that I could see) bu my group went from half dozen to one, in a very short time.

This exact thing happened to my friend's tank. Literally left with one and the last female was a wreck.
