Recently we noticed our two little redhead severums exhibiting some breeding behavior. We didn't see any eggs at first but while we were doing a water change tonight we found some. They are in a crappy 300 gallon acrylic tank with a medium sized black aro, a geophagus, a few nics, a tigrinus, two rays, a large botia, and a common pleco. They are keeping all of these fish (with the exception of the aro because he stays on the top most of the time) to one side of the tank.

We'd like to move the severums to their own tank so they can breed in peace. What sort of tank would be best for them? We've got just about every size you can imagine and we'll gladly move some stuff around to give these guys a little peace and quiet. Should we try to save the eggs they have already laid or will this piss them off/stress them out? We figure the eggs/fry will get eaten in this tank if we leave them in there. They've laid about 200 eggs and they all appear to be good ones.

Here are some pictures for the hell of it. Ours have nice color.

Holy crap! Awesome! I am first in line for fry! LOL

I hope they hatch by then.

If you want to save this batch your best bet is going to be divide the tank or siphon them off when they become wigglers. If the sevs cooperate and lay the eggs on something mobile you can try moving just them. Mine spawned in a 55 no problem. Dibs on red head fry if this works.

I just checked on them and only 2 or 3 of the eggs were white:D

That is one nice looking Severum!!!!!!
