maybe you could have put in some air stones behind the cave holes to push the water some?

I had the filter intake behind the background. I cut slits in the background to allow it to pull water through right at the spot where the intake was at. The outflow came down in front of the background so it wasn't recycling the water from just behind the caves.

hmmm-you could silicone it to the back or pin it against the tank with some rocks or driftwood also.I like your idea and may try something similiar in a small section of my tank.

I think if you left part of one section out so the intake would be exposed in the tank it would work alot better and like i said-add some air stones to the bottom of it and it would at least circulate water out of it.I think no matter what it will collect alot of crap behind the bottom edge.

It was just something i seen someone else do. except they used brown gutter and lava rocks. I figured I would give it a try. Gutter cost me like $6 and the rocks and silicone I already had. So really it wasn't a waste to me. I'm always willing to test out new things.

me to"McGyver"I am always trying to create something new or out of the norm.It would also be kool to use those gutter pieces as a stackable cave formation.you could stack them in a sloppy fashion so it looked more natural with the gravel on em.maybe make the cuts a little crooked or jagged.I may try that idea-i have been thinking about some cave ideas lately so that may work out well for me

Don't throw it out, give it away, thats a good lookin background so I'm sure someone would love to have that in there tank, (I'd hate to see all that hard work go to waste)

I agree thats extremely creative and with few tweaks a potentially marvelous idea!

Is that a Gold Sexfaciatus, Juwel Cichlids, Yellow Lab and a Pseudo.Elongatus in the same tank? (With Plants?)

Upon maturity you will have a war in that tank.
