Ive always wondered if natural substrate would affect how the fish display color vs. bare bottom. Just a guess but I would bet they start to get alot more bold. Fish adapt to the substrate naturally for camo. Ive got a LMB in an all black tank and he is very very dark colored...

Thanks guys. Yea the old setup was just bare bottom. And the tank is 8x2x21inches
