redline with redbellies

Um, no I would have thought that channa would kill them. Unless he has a particularly tame micro, those P's days would be numbered.

Pygos are generally pussies. I kept a gar with a shoal of reds and my gar killed one of them.

yeah bro, I've kept both types also and juvi micros are eating machines but not that tough. it looks like the red bellies have some weight on the SH too

Juvie micros can be quite delicate yep, but I would consider that more a subadult. How big did he say it was, 11 or 12 inches? They usually start to get real aggressive around a foot, and bulkier. I think he leaves it there any longer it chomps every one of those P's.

Give it time.

it says the micro is 10-12" and "the last 2 months and controls half [the tank]." since the SH grows about 1-2" per month at that size it probably was 6-10" when it was first introduced.

if one of those rbps gave the micro a love bite it would be lights out for the channa after the feeding frenzy

You are 100% correct. Anyone who thinks a group of P's couldn't easily devour a baby S/h is not to be taken seriously.;)
I once saw a documentary where a huge Pbass was eating p's at will and they did nothing. However when the dry season came and the lake started to dry up and the P's got hungry they devoured that same huge Pbass with ease.
