Redtail catfish breeding

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No but my question would be why? Definitely not for profit id imagine as they are cheap anyways and need like a gazillion gallon tank to house full grown.

Agreed. You'd need an absolutely huge tank or pond (I'd say 50k gallons should do it for a breeding group?) and there'd be next to no benefit.

I would love to know, too.

Why? For a challenge ? For food ? For fun ? For the satisfaction? :)

Also - I'm not opening a debate here, but the fact remains, lots of people buy them - so there IS a market. Every month, there are a few new RTC owners on here, LOL.

Alot of people buy them but how many are housed properly. Sorry just my 2¢. If you do breed and sell them please make sure they go to the right home. Unlike LFS

I dont wanna breed them because i dont have the space but i was just wondering the same thing actually. I'll check into this thread. Hopefully someone posts about an experience they had with mating RTC's.

Even if the plan isn't to breed them, it would teach us a lot about conditions, etc, which we can then apply to other cats.
