hate to break it to you bud but you're gonna have problems if you start the hobby off with gar and rtc. They're not the easiest to keep long term.

You can throw the paper tests, dip sticks, etc. away. For the hobby level you are aiming at they are useless.
Please get the kit I linked for you asap, it's only $20, and start measuring your water. Everyone literally in this thread or even on MFK will tell you this.
While you are waiting for your kit, if ordered by mai, you can find a local fish shop that does these liquid tests for free in store.

Thank you so much, I was searching for test kits around my house but I could not find any because most of the stores were closed
