Redtail catfish

Does anyone know any tips on feeding these guys. i have to hand feed mine. my other fish wont let the food hit the bottom for my catfish. plus i feed the catfish market shrimp. so when that hits the water the frenzy begins.

feed at night, after everyone else is fed.

or use pvc pipe to "guide" it on down to him

or change tanks

or keep hand feeding him

or get rid of all the other fish

or....

or... put more shrimp in so the other fish get fed and your redtail does simple as that.

I struggled to get food to my TSN cause of the other greedy guts. bought some bbq tongs and feed him with them..

this is one of the reasons that it is smart to research the fish you are about to purchase. Some fish are way more laid back than others when it comes to feeding. Resulting in your situation.
So, basically, you have to cater to the catfish' needs now. ie....keep handfeeding, pvc, or separation.

He will learn eventually. After a few days of not getting food, when it hits the water they will soon learn to come up to the top. I've had fish be like that and after a few times they finally realized that they need to get up there if they want to be fed.
