1 kilogram is 1000 grams
1.25 liter = 1250 grams = 1 kilogram

Sorry bro ... but the part in the above quote cannot be correct. :nilly:

How much would i need to fill your normal canister filter! I filled my xp3 with 6 liters of ehiem pro! Would i need about the same of biohome to fill my ehiem 2217!
I have a 20 gallon wetdry on my 240, should i just get rid of the bioballs and fill the sump with biohome! tank is always at 40nitrates!
I have 7 tanks in my house and no matter what i do i cant get my nitrates below 15-20!

I'm not sure how big or how much room for filter media in the ehiem2217.
As for your xp3, if it took 6 liters to fill that, then it should be the same for biohome.
DO NOT throw away your bioballs, that is what is running your tank right now.
You will get an ammonia and nitrite spike, because you basically are throwing away your good bacteria. I would add the biohome and let them run together until the biohome is established then replace the bioballs or just keep it in there.

levi,

doc can only be removed through water changes

I just wanted to put that out there. people dont need the false impression that you can do without water changes because the nitrates are low.

You are absolutely correct. Reducing nitrates improves water quality, and reduces the need to change water as often, you still need to do some water changes to replenish minerals and trace element in your tank.

Hey Eric,
If your goal is to control nitrates, I would fill 1kg into fx5 and run it normally, then for
the 404 I would fill in as much as you can and use the control valve to run the water slower so the biohome has more time to work on the nitrates.

Can I pick up in person. I would like to pick up a Kilo to try out.
