As the title says, I was doing my weekly tank maintenance and some of my tanks were measuring a low pH. I want to keep my tanks around neutral pH. All I have on hand is Seachem Reef Buffer.

If my goal is to raise alkalinity and pH, is there anything wrong with using this product? Even though it is for reef tanks I don't see why it will not work in freshwater? So far this morning I have used it it in four of my tanks in very small amounts. I will measure the water chemistry in about an hour to see the effects.

Does anyone see any major issues with this?

Thanks,

Tony

chasing pHs is a losing battle IMO. Unless you have a species that requires a high pH then you should be targeting a constant pH whether high or low and not meddling with things. That is unless we are talking pH = 5 or something lower.

use your tap water and constant water changes to keep ph stable....it is dangerous and a waste of money to mess with ph

Use crushed coral, put some in a bag to slowly raise your buffering capacity.
