would it be ok for me to run my light from 6pm-12am....being that i work everyday from 10-9 and would like for the tank lights to be on while im home?

sure i have alot of corals and i only run my halide for only 12 hours per day. your fish will adjust to your lighting and so will the corals

That's only 6 hours though.

i wasnt paying attenion.. i thought he said from six to 12 hour daily.. you need to have your lights on for min of 10 hours for corals.. some like sps call for more.. i always run 12 hours.. metal hailde w/ t5's

I do 12 to 12 myself. Actually 12 to 12 for actinics and 2 to 10 for my halides. It did take some adjusting for some of my coral and the fish when I switched it but in a couple weeks they were "on schedule". The sun coral actually are better than before they are still opening at 9 every night which is what they were doing when the lights went off at 9. Actually get to see them open with full lights though so I like it.
