Reef lighting schedule

did the change havent really noticed a difference because im never home till after nine.... lol i see the tank with lights on for 3 hours then its off to bed
 
What lights do you run??
I give my tank only 7 hours of MH
10.5 hours of actinics
Actinic on 1100
MH on 130
MH off 830
Actinics off 930

Corals can only obsorb soo much ligh a light cycle
Think of a real reef
Most corals only get 6-8 hours of light and only a few of BRIGHT sunlight
the sun has to rise and fall
 
Well yeah mytee, but some are geared for direct sunlight several hours a day, no? Out of the water at low tide for at least a few hours?

I agree with you ! Of course none of them are in the brightest direct sunlight for 12 hours a day though :)

MH for 7 or 8 hours is plenty in my experience. I started with 12, but switched to 8 hours a day and nothing changed other than my electric bill.
