Yes the same motor is used. If you were to order a separate Barracuda pump and a Hammerhead pump they would both be delivered with this motor.

The wattage rating is different depending on the impeller installed. With a larger impeller there is more work for the motor therefore the wattage goes up.

This is also why when the head increases on a pump or if you throttle back a pump the wattage draw is reduced.
