What is the best one for the money and how do you calibrate it correctly?

To calibrate them, they have a screw at the top. Put freshwater on it and adjust the screw until the line reads ZERO.

As for brand, did you have a specific one in mind you were wondering about?
Aquatic Eco carries several good quality units.
