regain spawn

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well, no luck again. I think I should move them to the corner of the basement for a little more privacy. they are in the living room now, might be a little to much action for them.

These fish are funny. I moved all five back to the same tank last Friday, and the pair I moved back now has wigglers. Didn't even know they had spawned until i seen the female coming out of her apisto cave and chashing everyone last nite.

Fry are already starting to hop around. Guessing they will be free swimming in the next day or so. They must have spawned the night I moved them back to this tank.

I'm sure with the added competition, it tightened the bond and got them in the mood.

I hope your wigglers will make it to free swimming and beyond.

If they get to free swimming, I will take about 1/2 to raise up and let the parents rear the rest.

Took the tetras out of the tank last nite. They always worry me with fry

Free swimming cloud last night, gone today after work. They didn'the seem to think the laetacaras in the tank were a threat to the fry. The other three pikes were held up in the wood on the other side of the tank.

At least I know I have proven pair now. I will be more diligent next time.

grats man. sucks you lost them but now you have done it.

Spawned again Sunday night around 11pm after a big water change. Actually both pairs did in the same 40 breeder. Funny how the females picked the smallest a apisto caves to spawn in. Neither male could get in without pushing a bunch of eggs out while doing so.

Sideal note, both pairs spawned on the floor of the caves. Never had a regani, or any crenicichla use the floor as the spawning site. Always the walls or ceiling. Oh well, just an observation.

Here is a pic of the male in the adjacent cave. You can see how large he is to be fitting in that little hut. Should have taken a picture of them in the act. It was comical, trying head first, then backing in... and all over again
