Buy a sponge for a Aquaclear 300 (80 or whatever they are now) cut a slit in the center of one end and slide it over the intake of your filter. easy to take off and clean.

I filled my 404 baskets with various combinations; BioMax/BioMax, Substrat Pro/Substrat Pro, River Rock Gravel/Bio Max, Substrat Pro/pre-filter Ceramic Rings. All bio media. Trying the multiple types of Bio Media in a canister.

i too got the 404 from ebay, paid $79 w/free shipping. Made an offer lol should have tried $75 heh

Really? Mine came with enough pre-filter ceramic rings for one basket. Haven't even opened up the carbon packs lol. I added Substrat Pro and Gravel in place of the carbon.
