Regarding Wolf Fish, Payara, and African Tigers...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well on ATF which ones Vittatus or GATF? I've heard/seen on ATF that they seem to be okay with anything as big or bigger than them....ATF I'd avoid other Characins unless it is a big tank....

goliaths usually dont go well together, i tried 4 juvys together and it was constant fighting. I currently have 1 goliath with 5 yellow tail cudas, 5 hydrolycus tats, 4 rhaphs 2 rocket gar all ranging from 5 to 9 inches. goliath will occasionally shank the rhaphs, but wont bother tats or anything else. in my 125 i have 3 yellowtail cuda, 2 forskalli african tigers, 3 odoes and 2 scombs. The bigger forskalli always shanks the smaller one and the odoes, but hasnt done enuff damage to cause concern. but these species are trial and error, some people can get it to work others cant. I know the really big tanks help out alot.

Doesn't help answer my questions as much as it sounds. :D

Well let me decode it for you. It means buy your favorite (most expensive fish) first. Let it get some size before you try and add tank mates that are predators. That way the top dog will be the biggest and least likely to end up as food. Either that or buy them all at the same time and have them grow up together. The second is a lot less feasible since not everything is always available nor do they grow at the same rates.

@ sashimimaster: Again, doesn't answer me. It's not me having no clue about what you are trying to say.

It's just that it doesn't directly answer my questions on each of these groups of fish and the species in them. Is all. :D

But thank you for the input.

All ATF's do good with fish the same size or larger, As for Payara I'm the master of Payara on the "Other Characins" section so I should be able to give you some pretty good info on these, Do not get Scomb's they are the worst fish experience you could have in my opinion for various reasons, Tat's do well in a Comm tank with fish of the same size and larger, Armatus when small are good for Comms but can get very nasty when about 8-12" so I would suggest a ton of Dithers such as Silver Dollars if you plan on keeping them in a community. For Wolf fish I really can't help you because I've never owned one.
