Reggie Bush to give back his Hiesman Trophy!

Interesting that you guys bring up amatuerism with bush...he took thousands of dollars and a house and car from an agent, all in an attempt for the agent to make him his go to guy when he goes pro. They sprung the trap and reggie and his fam fell for it...now the players who were in high school or junior high are paying the price.

The one that bothers me is that green guy from Georgia...suspended for selling his jersey on e-bay? Not his fault it fetched 1,000 bucks and it just happens to be an agent that got the winning bid. So let me get this straight, he can be given something as his own property but if he auctions it off he's no longer an amatuer? I can buy books and sell them back to the student store OR auction them off but that's okay?

I know rules are rules but 4 games for selling a jersey on ebay is too harsh.

doesn't matter if you take reggie's heisman away, you can't erase the memories burnt into our mind. We all know he was the best player in college that year, not Vince Young

Good point...Now how are the high school players now paying the price for what has happened?

Reggie Bush played in USC 5 years ago...all those current players were in High School. They're the ones banned from making a bowl game (the next 2 years) and having a weaker team because of less scholarships (30 scholarships over 3 years).

how is reggie being punished? Oh his rep is slightly tarnished? Who cares, he got a new SUV and his parents got a house to stay in cali and tickets to every game even on the road etc etc, small price to pay for a tarnished image eh? Considering the millions he's now earning. Some current USC players might not get drafted as high because they won't get the opportunity to showcase their skills in a bowl game.

To add on to what i was saying above, it'd be one thing if you were punishing the coach if he were still there or punishing reggie directly but it's been 5 years and the only ones paying the price are the current athletes on that football team. The rest of the school is uneffected by it other then a tarnished image but what do they care, they weren't attending school there yet either.

Good point. Pete Carroll knew what was going down and that it was time to get out of Dodge.

Can't blame him but even if he had just switched schools, he wouldn't have been punished. Just look at how they handle violations in NCAA basketball. Basketball program gets punished, coach goes to new school with a clean slate

You can argue that the violations were bigger then just reggie though, there were violations against the men's basketball program with OJ Mayo recieving benefits the same year.
