Tellme how to differentiate between a normal carpintis and an escondido. My carpintis is on my avatar, is it an escondido?

Thank you!

Escondido is just a varient based on it's collection point. It is still a Carpintis. In my experience though the escondido has a more erratic pattern with it's spots where the carpintis has more or a circle pattern. Squiggles appose to circles I guess is what I'm trying to say. LOL

Oh, your avatar looks to be a common carpintis rather than escondido. JMO

Thanks for reply Tug, this question arised whensome one told me that my carp is ecsondido in this thread

Just now I have observed that my texy has irregular patchy markings(not round) that you have described for an escondido. Check out the bigger pic in that thread.

i just got an escondido from rapps they are very beautiful fish they have as much color as an ebjd but a more natural appearence they have a lot larger spots than other carpintis heres a pic of the new guy at about 2"

Here I've taken Mike's Texas for Comparison, hope he doesnt minds...

@cichlidinsomniac...your fish is from Rapps, a very high quality fish with bold markings even at a small size.
Look how my fish looked when it was about your texas's size.

@Modest_man...look at the pic, even now you can see a few squiggly markings on its face, which I suppose should prolong as it grows.
I have observed this in GTs and severums as well.First they start as an irregular spot and extend as the fish grows.

Yours is not an Escondido. The Escondido variant have wormy/squiggly markings on the face/gill plate.

I think you are thinking of the difference between Cayano and Carpintis. An Esco is generally just a Carpintis that has a sort of electric bright color, and perhaps even larger pearl spots.

No, I'm not thinking of a cyano. And scratanut, yours isn't an "Escondido".

Here is a photo of my old female Escondido. Look at the face.
