So I am curious. I know that mostly KKP have somewhat more regular shaped mouths than standard BP's

Is this how KKP are distinguished when they are young? is there any other differences like coloring or morphology?

I have two parrots and they both look very different, one is an intense pink red colour around the front, and has the typical parrot face and hunch.

The second parrot has a regular mouth that closes all the way, and no notch above its head. It also has a much less rounded body and an overall yellowish coloring.

Are they both just regular BPs? and how do you think they would turn out?

Both of them

Just the less deformed one

Usually the less deformed bps are just males

really? I have had a few males over the years (infertile part of pairs) and they were all very deformed and blood parrot looking

I believe it is just examples of the range of offspring you get when breeding them. Along with them coloring/fading at a different rate. I know there are several threads with growouts involving these type fish on here and the range produced in the offspring is even greater.

actually the BP with less of a nothch are female...the males have the severe notch on their heads... when these are bred, KKP and BP all come from the same batch, but are selected for different traits

I've kept one Bp in my lifetime. I'd like to get more but haven't yet.

It was a female as it laid eggs multiple times. It have a really large notch in its head and a deformed mouth. Here's a pic.

I was referring to the mouth but you never know anything for sure with them

So what youre saying is that KKP and BP are from the same group of fry but they are seperated right.
So in theory if you grew out an entire group you might have a KKP among the other BPs

just thought I`d do a updated photo of my parrots and their mouths.

Looks like the regular mouth one might end up being somewhat king kong like.

beginning to fade now, heres the one with regular mouth, no flared gills and less rounded body
