I bought a large tank a while ago and it turned up with fish. 2 16 inch pacu, 3 pangasis, 1 lapradei bichir, 1 tiger oscar, 3 comon plecos, 3 synodontis, 1 possible chinese algea eater, 1 catfish, and some other little fish. I have managed to get rid of the pangasis, catfish, and smaller fish, the Oscar and lapradei have gone upstairs in a big tank of their own, leaving the 2 pacu, 3 pleco, 3 synodonits and CAE downstairs, and had another pacu dropped off with me that was shoved in a very small tank at the LFS, so I ended up taking him in. Anyway, the tank is 78x24x24 inch and filtered by 2 fluval fx5s. So I know its still over stocked, and I know the pacu will be getting bigger, and I know I cannot fit a bigger tank in this house and really can't afford to move. So obviously I am still looking for a new home for the Pacu. Anyone know where I should be turning to?

well, being that the market for fish like pacu, is next to none< being that almost no one can keep them into adulthood, your really not left with alot of options, possibly you may get a person from this site to buy them, but if you can't find a home for the fish in any place, the next thing you turn to is euthanization, which i find sad because in every pet store in america you can find these fish that almost no one can keep. try to sell it here, or mabey aquabid< you'll have alot more of a chance to sell the fish if you can ship it to potential buyers, but with such a large fish, this is easier said than done, good luck with whatever you decide to do:)

I don't want to kill the poor fish. If someone has a tank big enough they can HAVE them lol! Would even be willing to try to transport them myself. Donno what else to do though, other then get rid of them somehow lol.

I think they should be illegal to sell to people without checking tank sizes first. This dude I got the tank from has apparently tried to offload them to everyone in the county and no one bothered telling me the fish came with the tank til it turned up with two plastic barrels of fish. -sigh- probably the only way he could get rid of them lol!

Wasn't there a user on here a while back...Monsterfisheater...you could go by his example once it outgrows the tank! ;)

LMAO! My husband has pointed out recipes. I love them to much to eat them :P Would have to be VERY hungry to turn on my fish :D

Why don't you try donating it to a local aquarium or something like that.

Il know there are Pacu lovers on this site, just don't know if there in the Piranha forum. Post these guys in the buy and sell forum, also find any other means of avertising these fish. Donation to the local public aquarium is a good suggestion. I'm sure you can find someone to take them but it may take some effort and leg work.
