2 2x6's or 2 2x8's sandwiched together will make for a much stonger bean than a 4x4. Kind of like what they use for headers over large windows and garage doors in new framing.

You make the beam topside then take it down to where it needs to be set. The only extra work is screwing the two boards together. I found if you also sandwish some 3/4" osb or plywood in the middle the jack plates fit on the beam better.
You can sure use a 4x4 with a 90 gallon I'm just saying a 4x4 can not carry a lateral load near as well as a beam constructed as I mentioned above.
Of course you can always go even further and get a steel beam.
