After a month, one of my rays finally died from a swallowed hook. Decided to do a bit of investigating, and in fact, it really was a hook. Anyways, I decided to do a bit of disection after look for the hook, I ended up defleshing the ray down to cartilage. Here i noticed something, the cartillage of the ray's disc covers the whole disc EXCEPT the front nose area of the ray, it just ends at the corners of each eye, does this have something to do with a ray becoming a batman? Its kinda hard to see as my camera sucks and its on a while background, but its a top shot, you can make out that it ends and does not connect together. Also, there is no possible way that the peice of cartillage simply fell off as all the peices of flesh have been looked over before disposal, the rest of the disc is completely intact, and the edges of the cartillage have no signs of ripping, all edges are smooth, even at the base (head peice of cartillage).

kind of off topic but just curious of how your ray ate a hook? lol

wild caught ray. they sometimes swallow the hook, and fishermen just cut the line and leave the hook

batman rays are normal rays but thier disk didnt fuse all the way... IMO i would say your ray was very close to becoming batman, and if he was to mate could have produced batman pups....

Forgot to mention, this ray was completely normal ray, no defect in disc, just a perfectly found disc.
