put an ad up to give him away for free here. that's what i 'd do if i were you . dont' give him away on CL since he has a better chance with people on this board in my opinion
he's a tropical fish, you'll be putting a slow death sentence on him by releasing him where you are.

my parents really believe in Feng Shui so after a series of unfortunate events, including the medics coming to my house TWICE in one week last week, and the important fact that my jardini did jump out of the tank and was saved by my wife not too long ago, they asked me to release the fish. although jardini's are not asian arowana's, but they still resemble "dragon fish". Mom and Pop really did convince me well with their reasons, and i gave them my word agreeing to release the fish this saturday, which btw is a good day for Buddhism.

i plan to put my 2yo jar in a huge pond in front of my office at work. it's a private property so no fishing allowed. my colleagues and i usually feed fish there at lunch. i believe it's going to be a very good place for my jar.

man, not an easy decision to make, but don't wanna make The Elders worry more.

questions:

1. will he be OK without air pump for about 45 minutes?

2. will he be OK in the pond in winter? it can get to below zero here, and i don't really know how deep the pond is. a lake would be better in this aspect, heard of Buckeye Lake? not far from me, but fishing is allowed there. plus, i'll still feel him closer to me being in the pond at work.

3. i never pay close attention to threads about bagging your monsters because i never had an intent to do that except for tank swapping. is clear or black bag better for this use?

no more dragon fish for me for a long while. have raised this fun boy since 2.5". he was shipped from asia.

thanks for reading. enjoy your dragons!

dont release him...sell him to someone that can care for it
Agreed if you can't find a good home for him in time your last resort would be to take him to a big al's or local fish store that will take him. Good Luck and sorry to hear that you have to let go of your Jardini of 2 years.

Give this guy a break...He explained that he was not in the correct state of mind. He wants to do right...

Okay, let us close this for now. All has been said and done.

The OP had the guts to state his plans and was clearly in good intention.
