bad idea ... that fish most likely won't eat frozen food ... it is going to want other fish.
feeders from a lfs = TONS of possibility for disease ...
unless you sterilize all equipment, buy brand new filters, brand new everything for that tank, then catch it native minnows every day to feed it, this fish is going to come into contact with something that is not natural to the native waters
then you put him back in with whatever he has picked up in the tank and you could create a ton of problems.

for this reason, it is illegal almost everywhere to release a fish that was in a home aquarium.

I also would suggest against this, once a fish becomes used to being fed by a human it wont be the same in the wild. Not to mention the fact of possible disease. When it gets to big, eat it or sell it.

Not to mention it's more than likely illegal.

I highly doubt this practice is legal, and not ethical. Get a pickerel.

You can still introduce many diseases that are not as common in the wild. Not to mention, it is still illegal. Most states have rules in place that keeping native species is illegal, and releasing any tank kept fish into the wild is illegal.
