Anyone know good reliable power heads for a 125 long to keep flow moving?

I have south American cichlids around 4 inches no small fish.

Do you care more about reliability or price? Some of the more reliable companies like Tunze or Vortech are going to cost you alot more than a jebao, but probably last longer than 6 - 12 months.

Mine's lasted about 2 years so far. An RW8, I think. I could afford an equivalent Tunze, I'm just not sure I could talk myself into paying a few hundred more when the Jebao works just fine.

I had a jebao which didn't last that long, not to mention it was leaking voltage into my water. Not sure I would go back that route.

Just checked, it's been over 3 years. I found the video of it vs the seio M820 it replaced I uploaded march 2015. :)

I did a lot of reading and settled on one Aquaclear 70 powerhead for one side and I got a Cobalt MJ1200 for the other. Only had for two months, so can't vouch from experience.

I remember Cobalt is said to be more reliable than Maxijet. Supposedly guys from Maxijet split off to make Cobalt powerheads after Maxijet started making them in China.

That's just what I remember from threads I read during my research.

Also, it's what said about cost. There are some $300-400 ones used mainly by saltwater people that have electronic controls and timers.

Have a look into Koralia as well. I use many and love them. They have lasted years and are in the middle price range. Well worth it IMO

Totally agree. I believe in investing in filtration but can’t seem to bring myself to paying that much for the same flow over a reliable and affordable brand like Koralia. Vortech/Ecotech are pretty sweet though, I gotta admit. If you’re going for bragging rights, they are it.
