Anyone have an idea or reliable substitute for the python siphon system? Jw before i go out and buy the 50 ft deal, if i can DIY then i may

where you looking to buy one from i got mine from a webiste and only paid like 35 for it and its the 50ft one

ok i take that back its 33$ for the 25ft. and 55$for the 50ft. and 16$ for the 20ft ext. and thats on pets-warehouse.com

Just google DIY Python. There are ways to use vinyl hose with garden hose fixtures to make a suitable one. I used to have one, then broke down and bought the python since the DIY always have some problem with breaking.

Just a tip though, buy the quick disconnect adapter for the python. Not only does it make it easier to connect, there is a weak point in the screw on faucet connection for the python and this puts it through much less stress.

Only get a python type setup if you have very good water pressure. If you have lower water pressure, such as coming from a well, it won't work worth sh**. Especially at longer lengths of 50'.

ok, heck with it, ill prolly just break down and buy me one...i think they wanted $60-$70 for it at petsmart, the quick disconnect adapter comes seperate? any body know a good site that sells them a lil cheaper?

Home Depot has the quick disconnect. It is accually for a dishwasher.

But you can make your own by buying a waterbed drain and fill kit. Do a search on DIY and there are threads for it.

Just use a drinking water safe hose and attach a gravel vac.The sink adapter is overrated and wastes water.

this is tru so all that i do is insted of using the sink to create vacuum i use myself (like if i were steeling gas lol) and just run the old water out the door and only use the sink to fill up and for all the stuff i don't get out that the suction won't pick up i got a small gravel tube set up that i use with the good ole bucket

i have a normal python, and i find it goes much faster to just use a powerhead hooked up to some hose and dump the water out the window, along with the python (just use the water to start the syphon, once it is going you can shut it off and it keeps the syphon. the powerhead i have pumps around 200 gph out and its quite a bit faster then just about anything else i can find (except faster pumps) then just use the python to fill it.
