I have a 300 gallon acrylic that I bought used. the only problem is the back is painted black. It really robs the tank of light. Anyone have any

good ideas for removing the paint100_1104.JPG besides a razor blade? I'm afraid to use chemicals because the tank is in operation

Second the better lighting. As cheap as lighting is definitely not worth the hassle of removing or ruining a nice setup by seeing whatever is behind the tank.

It's 36" tall. I've got a 4' light with 4 sets of 21" bulbs. It's just that the back of the tank kind of disappears. was thinking of removing the black and going with another color. Turquoise?

I would leave it and do something about the lighting. too easy to scratch the tank when removing the black. If it gets scratched then its there for life unless you know how to buff it out, but that could scare the fish too much.

Leave the black, you wont regret it.

Its probably painted on the back, put some brake clean on a rag or paint thinner n wipe it down. It might come off, just make sure the tank is sealed on the top too. But, like I said, I would leave it black, I wish I painted mine black.
