So as some of you may know, I tried turning on the red light in my tank which led to (only while the red light was on) extreme aggression by my JD who beat the crap out of my EBJD. I've been medicating my EBJD and have a divider in separating the JD. The EBJD still isn't 100% but I'm considering removing the divider soon.

Question really is, should I re-arrange the tank before/as I remove the divider? Normally I'd have no concerns because normally my JD is almost docile with my other fish. However after the last incident , when the normal light came one, the JD ran to one of the other fishes territories to hide (other fish was hiding in the top corner). To me this meant he now saw that as his territory so what else is "his". Also with him being divided to 1/2 the tank, will he see that 1/2 of the tank as his now?

Let me know any thoughts y'all have!

Yes, if you are going to rearrange everything , remove the divider too....word of caution is to do it when you are at home for the next 6 - 7 hours . If the JD tries to act funny or have a go at the EBJD...you are there to put an end to it. observe from a distance.
Only concern is , this might happen again....fishes have a mind of their own.
Rearranging works for few days , then it is still the dominant fish , which gets to own the space and decide who he / she likes or hates....(personal experience)

Assuming the Jack Dempsey hadn't had a permanent additude change from this experience, I'm not worried about the end dominate fish... More worried about the slug fest that will occure to re-establish territory.

I've heard EBJD are more frail, with one as good looking as yours I wouldn't risk it quite yet. I think you have said you have a bleekeri ( don't know how to spell it lol) but see if the jack is aggressive towards it as a test

Sadly he's no longer "good looking" but frail he is not (atleast not mine). He was gill flaring the bleekeri today. Great idea on the bleekeri though. I'll give it a go while I give the EBJD a bath tomorrow.

Damn he got messed up! Don't worry he will look brand new soon! Yeah I would leave that Dempsey by himself too long, I had one that turned psycho like Dovii/devil. When I got my old female Jaguar they were the same size and I put her in the tank and went to eat ( not even 15 minutes) I came back up to a near death Jaguar. Rehomed the Dempsey and as soon as the LFS pur him in a tank and instantly he went at it with another Dempsey easily double his size.

*wouldn't, and the Dempsey was alone for a month, and it turned him nuts

Oh shoot! Divider might just come out tonight then... I know everyone loves my EBJD but personally I like my JD more. Love irredescents.

By the looks of your EBJD....it still has some time for good recovery...my suggestion would be to wait couple more weeks before you remove the divider...this way you are giving the EBJD a full chance of recovery( some fins still look damaged/on recovery process) and post recovery....confidence to take on EBJD is needed.
