Hey Guys, I have a big question. I was recently offered two 125g tanks with stand, overflows, and sumps for $350. I pretty much jumped on it, thinking its a good deal. The glass tank is clean, needs minor stuff. My current concern is the acrylic tank, that use to house a reef. There coraline algae all over the bottom portion of the tank. I'm afraid to try and remove it because it might scratch. I was thinking about flipping the tank over, hosing down the inside til I got all the sand out, and then pressure washing the inside.

Is there a safe method of removing the algae without scratching or damaging the acrylic?? I prefer the acrylic tank alot more over the glass tank because the stand is alot nicer, the whole setup is alot nicer than the glass one.

ANy ideas as to what I can do?

I really appreciate it. Thanks

All the methods I have used in the past have been for a glass tank, so I too am curious if anyone has had any experience/luck with removal from an acrylic tank.

there are some acrylic safe scraper's for the job just make sure you ask or read the package that it is acrylic safe before you start or you'll scratch it all up;

x2^ I've used the same one for acrylic aquariums w/ marine organisms to remove coralline algae, or at least one with the same design. When cleaning just dont scrape like crazy and try different directions - up down, side to side, etc
