One hour later I have the top trim off. It was as bad as I thought It would be. I still need to take a blade and remove the few pieces of silicon that are left. I used a scraping tool with a 1.5"W x 4"L blade to wedge between the glass and the trim where it hangs down on the outside. I just made a fast and strong prying motion to pull the trim away from the glass. Gloves and safety glasses are a must. the gloves don't just prevent cuts, they also absorb a lot of the shock when it gives. The trim was fairly brittle and broke about a 6' piece off with every snap. You must use quite a bit of force and WANT to break it. I got a pretty good rythm going on the two 4 foot sides. I then went to where one of the cracks in the trim was and pulled it straight up to peel it off down the length of the glass. It broke off in 6" strips and needed occasional help from the scraper to get it started. Sometimes it helped to grab firmly and try and roll it to the outside to break up the silicon a bit.
