Wow, that takes a lot of balls to take a plane to a fish tank. I normally just stick a puddy knife inbetween the glass and the tank till I can wiggle it off. I guess that's a quick way, but with my luck I would chip the glass badly in the process
There's a void filled with silicone between the plastic and the glass. If you progress nice and easy with the plane you should be able to spot that silicone before you hit the glass.
you prolly dont want to hear this now, but if you were to have saved the corners and just reapplied them with silicon I believe that would support the corners like your talking about. I love the looks of these style tanks, I am seriously considering starting one up!
I was actually advised, by somebody who had worked in a factory assembling glass aquariums, that that kind of corner brace doesn't lend much support at all. Also it would have been difficult to retain the corners because of the way that I dissassembled the whole thing. Really I am liking the way that it looks now and I think that it is plenty strong with the water about 5" below the top rim.
Hey if you might want to set one of these up I have quite a few plants that I could send your way. I have been shipping in insulated boxes with heater packs with pretty good results.
