Removing Tank Trim

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It did have a center brace, in two places, but one was broken, it could easily be replaced with a piece of glass.

then you should repair it. braces are used because the thinner glass they use in todays tanks isn't strong enough on it's own to stand the pressure of the water.
but hey, it's your house.

The center brace on my 300, which is a 2' piece of 5/8 glass silicone, came loose when full. The front glass at 3/4" bowed out about 3/4".....scary! Real quick water change and fix there.

Trust the builders who made it. They could have seen people complaining about the strength or bowing of the tanks so they reinforced it. Unless it is over 15mm thick, I will not risk removing them. Replace it. My other 100 gallon would have exploded if not for the center brace and trims. All of us do not want flood in our houses.
