Ok so I use pure ammonia, and I shouldn't use Prime because it removes ammonia right? I guess I shouldn't put any ammonia removing media in my canisters either right? Til it's cycled? What water conditioner should I use that's not Prime, or doesn't remove ammonia?

edit:Where do I buy pure ammonia? You search it on aquarium websites and get a million results of ammonia removers

DO NOT USE PRIME in a new tank! It kills ammonia, which you absolutely need for getting a tank established! In fact... don't even look at the bottle of Prime for the 1st 2 months. If you use it, you start over. And since that stuff stays active for like an entire week... you can scratch that week out as cycling time... and start your month long clock over after that week. Its good stuff for an established tank thats having issues though.

Use Tetra Dechlorinater with tap water, or use reverse osmosis water that has been tested.

Use generic Cheap as possible ammonia. It should say Pure or 100% ammonia. Additives increase price, decrease effectiveness, and may kill your future fish. Probably can find it at a local grocery store or a dollar store.

Don't ever put any ammonia removing media in your filters. All it does is mask the fact that you have a problem. You should be doing weekly water changes (at least 50%) to prevent ammonia.

I have found pure ammonia at Home Depot and Dollar Tree ($1 for 1 gallon).
