I recently got an XP3 canister filter off of craigslist for a good deal but I absolutely hate tubing used for intake and output with this filter. Can anyone tell me where to find or at least suggest a good replacement tubing that might bend a little more easily to fit between my tank and the wall? I know the inner diameter of the tubing is about 5/8".

I searched for replacement parts last night and for some reason didn't find the page on their website. I'm not sure if I want that silicone stuff because that's what I have right now and it isn't flexible at all. I'd like something more flexible so I can have more control over the placement of inlet and outlet in my tank. A buddy of mine has this ribbed tubing on his and it is much more flexible (but I don't know what kind he has). I plan to go to Lowe's and Home Depot today so I will look around there.

If the Rena tubing is new, it is really flexible. But with just about any tubing, it will harden as it ages. It become more of a maintenance thing. The ribbed pool/spa tubing is fairly flexible. It might do a pretty good job as well. I have trouble finding it that small though.

I've used a lot of tubing over the years for aquarium plumbing and the stuff you get at Home Depot, Lowe's, etc., is worse than the cheapest stuff I find online. It hardened up faster than any tubing I've ever seen.

I have Masterkleer PVC tubing (the cheapest online stuff) that's still flexible after several years. A step up is Tygon or silicone.

For best results, try to match the same wall thickness as the original tubing and not just inner diameter. Sometimes the collet-like clamps of canister filters work best with a certain thickness tubing.

I'm still using the original tubing that came with the rena. Its still flexible but what I don't like is that its clear, so I've got lots of algae growth in the hose impeding flow...

The ribbed stuff, I've seen and am thinking of trying myself. Its really dishwasher return hose. If you're looking for it at home depot or a hardware store, its by the dishwashers / parts and not near the plumping...but both of those are sometimes close together. the problem is the dishwasher return hose does not come in an ID 5/8" and you may need to buy other parts to jimmy the inputs and outputs into the hose.
